David Rayner in the Leeds Classic

Next

In the first Leeds Classic, David Rayner broke away early and climbed Holme Moss alone.

Tragically, David, who raced for a couple of seasons with the Buckler squad, died in an incident in a night club a couple of years ago.

A fund has been set up in his memory, the purpose of which is to support young British riders racing abroad. Perhaps the most notable of these to date is David Millar, now with Cofidis, who won the opening time trial in this year's Tour de France, gaining the yellow jersey in the process, which he wore for 3 days.
