The day after losing the yellow jersey to Pantani, Jan Ullrich fought back with a gutsy display, to win the stage to Albertville.
Here the pair are seen climbing the Col de la Madeleine, along with the (soon to be dropped) Lotto rider Andrei Teteriouk.
