After having lost time in the first week due to the many crashes, Marco started to find form in the Pyrenees and Alps.
Here he is seen at the top of the Col de Croix Chaubouret in the St. Etienne mountain time trial, where he took an excellent 5th place behind Ullrich , Virenque, Riis, and Olano.
